We’re so grateful for your support over these last few years as we’ve done our best to navigate our way through the Covid-19 pandemic. We’ve worked hard to keep our community and our staff as safe as possible during these incredibly unpredictable times. As society has opened up again, one of the measures we’ve put in place was to offer designated masked ‘Safer Shopping Hours’ for those customers who prefer a more controlled environment. We’re writing to inform you that after careful consideration, we will no longer be offering ‘Safer Shopping Hours’ on Wednesday and Sunday mornings.
We understand that this decision may come as a surprise to some of our customers, and we assure you it was not made lightly. Over the last few months, we’ve noticed a significant decrease in demand for masked shopping hours, and we are now at a point where most folks shopping during these times aren’t doing so for the additional layers of precautions. We also find that those who do prefer to stay masked and socially distanced are doing so and shopping at all times, not just during our ‘Safer Shopping Hours’.
Also very concerning to us is that we’ve experienced a major increase in abuse targeting our staff during these hours. When introduced to the concept of Safer Shopping Hours, some interactions have unfortunately become hostile towards our team.
For those folks who have come to rely on this program, we have not forgotten about you. We want to hear from you, and if online shopping isn’t an option open to you, we very much want to understand your situation and see if there could be another way to accommodate you.
