Wholesome! Organic Sugar Apple Crisp

Complete with earthy, crunchy walnuts and warm notes of cinnamon, this simple apple crisp by Wholesome! Organic is the perfect answer to wintertime. Utterly delicious on its own, this recipe also pairs nicely with a scoop of ice cream or a spiced mulled wine.

Ingredients
  

Filling

  • 10 tart apples
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • ½ tsp cinnamon

Crisp Topping

  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • ½ cup unbleached flour
  • ½ cup Wholesome! Organic Golden Sugar or Wholesome! Organic Sucanat
  • tsp sea salt
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ½ cup walnuts, finely chopped

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  • On a cutting board, peel and slice the apples, and place them in a large mixing bowl. Add in lemon juice and cinnamon, and combine until evenly distributed.
  • Spread apples evenly in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, and set aside.
  • Combine oats, flour, golden sugar, salt, cinnamon, and walnuts in a separate bowl. Mix in room temperature butter with your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Spread evenly on top of the apples.
  • Bake for 25 minutes at 375°F or until apples are soft and the topping is brown.
  • Set aside for 30 minutes to cool, and enjoy!
